Is Pablo Sandoval's Next Move all Business or Is Heart Involved?

Hello followers,

I am extremely excited to share more with all of you and hopefully you all enjoy it. Today, I want to talk about Pablo Sandoval, free agency and how such a decision can be made. Sandoval, aka “The Panda” is one of the main free agents in MLB. Is his decision all business or can his desire to stay in San Francisco tip off the scale?

With a World Series MVP award in 2012, three World Series rings and countless clutch hits, it’s needless to say that The Panda has been more than a great investment for the Giants. The sales that he has generated through his personality and his engagement with the fans (hats, Panda heads, t-shirts, bubble heads, etc) have brought a huge crowd at AT&T Park. His major role in winning the last two World Series Championships (who can forget these three home runs in one game in the World Series? The Panda and Tiger memes.) But even with all these things going for him, Sandoval and the Giants haven’t reached an agreement. Why? Because the Giants might not be ready to go out of their budget, even if it means losing such a valuable player.

Sandoval loves being a Giants, he even said “I want to retire as a Giant,” but should he sacrifice his payday to stay in the city he loves? With the teammates he loves? On top of that, being the top free agent in MLB this offseason, Sandoval sets the bar for the other free agents payday. So depending on what he decides, this could have a huge influence on how much each free agent is worth. This is Pablo Sandoval’s chance to get his biggest check to date. He worked extremely hard for it, came back from injuries every time, so why should he pass up that opportunity?

Sports only last for a short period of time, so thinking about his future only makes sense. And today is his day. Should he take into consideration the market and the influence he can have in the league? I’m sure the league might pressure him into thinking about it, but in the end, it is all up to him to see if being where he loves with who he loves is more important than earning what is due.

On the other side, what about the Giants? Is it the right business move to let go of Sandoval to keep their budget in line? Or can they allow themselves to go over their budget to keep such a clutch player? If they let him go, what does that mean for the Giants as a company? How much is it going to impact the team, their lineup, and their overall atmosphere in the locker room? On top of that, could this affect how fans feel about the Giants? You have such a valuable player who brought so much to the table but you are not willing to go the extra mile to keep him. On the contrary  the Giants have proven every single time that they don’t care about what people think, they stick to their plans and it seems to work pretty damn well for them. And if the Giants do really well without Sandoval, how much are the fans going to actually care?

I think this is such an interesting topic and would love to hear what you all think!! Please comment, tell me what you think and let’s have a great discussion!

Thanks for checking my blog out, and see you soon on here.
